The mission of the Korean Language and Cultural Center of Sacramento (KLCCSac) is to create an inclusive and vibrant space where everyone, regardless of their background, feels embraced and excited to explore and celebrate the richness of Korean language and culture. KLCCSac currently serves 180+ students in the Greater Sacramento region through affordable, community-centered programming. Our flagship program, Our Korean School, provides structured language education for students of all ages. We also offer cultural arts programs including Minhwa (Korean Folk Art) and Korean Calligraphy. Additional programs offered include Summer Camp, Future Shapers (project-based youth development for middle and high schoolers), and online 1:1 Korean language sessions for personalized learning. Lavender Phoenix builds queer and transgender Asian and Pacific Islander power to amplify our voices and increase the visibility of our communities. Through organizing in the Bay Area, we inspire and train grassroots leaders, transform our values from scarcity to abundance, and partner with organizations to sustain a vibrant movement ecosystem. Our work is rooted in the many legacies of queer and trans API people who have fought isolation, battled for our rights, and created communities of care. To understand where we’re going, we need to understand the successes and challenges of our elders and ancestors. We want to make new mistakes. We are a political home for QTAPI people to transform. Leadership, Education, Activism and Dialogue (LEAD) Filipino is a nonprofit organization that operates out of San José, San Antonio and Las Vegas. Since 2015, we have organized at the intersection of civic innovation, culturally responsive education, grassroots leadership development and local economic development efforts. Rooted in our mission to increase the representation of FilAms in public leadership, we create an environment for our members to engage in community-based campaigns, local cultural and educational programming, and statewide civil and human rights efforts. From curating Filipino cultural events and programs in San Jose to forming strong partnerships across California, we advance issues of civil rights, social justice and economic empowerment for FilAm communities. Through our involvement with the Filipinx Igniting Engagement for Reimagining Collective Empowerment (FIERCE) Coalition, we cultivate statewide frameworks for FilAm communities to engage in social issues around ethnic studies, housing and affordability, mental and behavioral health, and public safety.
